Chronic GI Disease – Is There a Recipe for Success?

This course will review the diagnosis and management of chronic GI disease. The lecture will cover identification of common clinical signs and selection and interpretation of GI-related diagnostics, as well as recommendations for both diet and treatment trials

  • Learning Objectives:
  • Describe a diagnostic plan for a patient with a suspected chronic enteropathy
  • Develop a diet plan for different subsets of GI disease
  • Develop a rational medication plan for the individual patient

Qualifications and Experience

Dr. Samantha Duxbury received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 2011 and her Master of Physiology from North Carolina State University in 2014. Following her master’s degree, Dr. Duxbury obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She continued there and completed a small animal and surgery rotating internship in 2020. Dr. Duxbury completed a small animal Internal Medicine residency with University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in July 2023. Dr. Duxbury became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in August 2023. She enjoys all aspects of Internal Medicine and is particularly interested in nephrology, urology, infectious disease, and endoscopic procedures. Dr. Duxbury grew up in Saratoga Springs and is happy to return to Upstate New York. Samantha has a Golden Retriever named Watson, and in her free time, she enjoys riding horses, hiking, and trying new restaurants.
