The first hour will be spent discussing when diet trials are appropriate and how to successfully complete them. Diet selection, diet trial rules, and trips and tricks for owner buy in will all be discussed. The second hour will discuss the ins and outs of managing chronic, exudative otitis externa. From management of underlying causes to how to approach ears that have a biofilm, this hour will cover the management of chronic, recurrent OE from start to finish. The final lecture hour will cover diseases of the hind end dogs (and some cats). Anal sacculitis, perianal fistulas, AGASACA, autoimmune disorders, tail gland hyperplasia, and pruritus ani will all be covered. A diagnostic approach for each condition will be discussed so that the participant can feel confident in differentiating between these differentials. After the final lecture, approximately 10-15 minutes will be allotted for question and answer

  3. Be able to interpret the results of a diet trial
  4. Discuss causes and therapeutic options for recurrent otitis externa

  6. Discuss treatment options for managing exudative otitis externa
  7. Be able to recognize the most common conditions affecting the rear end of dogs and cats
  8. Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for patients with anal sacculitis
  9. Recognize, diagnose and treat perianal fistulas, AGASACA, tail gland hyperplasia, perianal adenomas, and pruritus ani
