Huge thanks to the NYSVMS Foundation who allowed us to save Cocoa, a 12 year old chihuahua with a pyometra. Without the funds, her retired owner who lives on a fixed income would never have been able to save his trusty companion. They are both so appreciative that we could not only help them medically, but financially too.
Why we need your help
New York veterinarians often take care of sick and injured pets whose caregivers can’t afford the full cost of treatment. But here’s the thing: there are so many people that go through tough times that veterinarians can’t bridge the gap alone.
Your contribution truly makes a huge difference in the well-being of these animals and their loving owners.
Regional funds for local care
The NY State Veterinary Care Fund is divided into regional funds. These regional funds help animals within one of New York’s 12 regions.
That means that your donations can be used to support pets in your local community.
Funds go where needed
Grants are awarded where:
- Owner has a financial barrier
- Animal is privately owned
- Condition is a fixable problem
Trusted organization
The NY State Veterinary Care Fund is run by the New York State Veterinary Medical Society Education Foundation, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt affiliate of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS). The professional association has been supporting veterinarians in New York for over 100 years.
Administrative services are provided at no cost to the fund by NYSVMS and finances are audited annually by an external auditor.
