Tractor Supply acquires VIP Petcare in push toward ‘omnichannel offering’

Tractor Supply has acquired mobile veterinary care provider VIP Petcare from PetIQ for an undisclosed sum. “Bringing VIP Petcare’s veterinary services capabilities in-house strengthens Tractor Supply’s existing pet health platform,” the company said in a May 28 press release. With the move, the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the U.S. gains the largest provider of mobile veterinary care and access to more pet owners through VIP Petcare’s broader retail partner network, according to the release.

Midwestern cancels plans for veterinary college in Illinois

Midwestern University will not be moving forward with its proposal for a Chicago College of Veterinary Medicine. The private, nonprofit graduate and postgraduate university, which specializes in healthcare education, announced in 2024 plans for a veterinary college at its Downers Grove, Illinois, campus. Midwestern previously established a College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 at its Glendale, Arizona, campus, which has been accredited by the AVMA Council on Education since 2018.
